The World of Fitness 1984 to Present
A Video Tour
The major focus of John Traetta and High Bar Productions turned
to the World of Fitness and started with an important meeting
with Joe and Ben Weider who offered the opportunity to organize,
promote, package, and televise the 1984 Ms. Olympia.
High Bar Productions created a new event with Madison Square
Garden over the Thanksgiving weekend in 1984, the Big Apple
Sports Festival. This event combined the Ms. Olympia, a Mary Lou
Retton gymnastics show, The NY Knicks and The Rangers, and a
sports trade show. John combined events promotions, TV
productions with NBC, and corporate sponsorships (Energizer,
Schick, The NY Post, and WNBC Radio) with a major PR campaign
that produced outstanding results. The Ms. Olympia competition
received national print exposure and a one-hour television
special on NBC, which was produced by High Bar Productions.
High Bar Productions with Joe and Ben Weider produced and
promoted The Ms. Olympia from 1984 to 1989. Check out the video
